AWARDS

NAWA honors the achievements and outstanding efforts of its members by sponsoring approximately $10,000 in financial awards each year, funded by endowments and donations received in memorial of an artist, and given to deserving artists at NAWA’s exhibitions.

Entry and Award Categories are: Works on Canvas, Works on Paper, Photography, Sculpture, Collage, Digital, Fiber Arts, Mixed Media, and Installation. Five $800 NAWA Medals of Honor are given yearly at the Annual Exhibition. Award winners are also recognized in the Annual Catalog of that year.

In addition, NAWA supports talented art students through special scholarships.

The Margo Harris Hammerschlag Biennial Direct Carving Award

NAWA also sponsors the biennial $5,000 Margo Harris Hammerschlag Direct Carving Award in sculpture, which is an open competition. It is given to an American women sculptor whose process is original with a minimum of 75% produced by direct carving. It is based on a body of work demonstrating a commitment to form. The final decision is based on artistic excellence.
