NAWA honors the achievements and outstanding efforts of its members by sponsoring approximately $10,000.00 in financial awards each year, funded by endowments and donations received in memorial of an artist, and given to deserving artists at NAWA’s exhibitions. The $800 NAWA Medal of Honor is given in each of the following categories at the Annual Exhibition: Works on Canvas, Works on Paper, Printmaking/Photography/Computer Art, Sculpture, Mixed Media and Collage. Award winners are also recognized in the Annual Catalog of that year. In addition, NAWA supports talented art students through special scholarships. If you would like to support NAWA’s efforts in recognizing deserving women artists by funding an award, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Margo Harris Hammerschlag Biennial Direct Carving Award
NAWA also sponsors the biennial $5,000 Margo Harris Hammerschlag Direct Carving Award in sculpture, which is an open competition. It is given to an American women sculptor whose process is original with a minimum of 75% produced by direct carving. It is based on a body of work demonstrating a commitment to form. The final decision is based on artistic excellence.
