We live our lives with amelioration and breakthrough – Life each day and take the time to see.

As we move into the 9th year of NAWA MA, we have over 200 members and a board of dedicated, committed artists working together toward our mission: “fostering awareness and recognition of visual art created by women in the United States.” Best year for us all!

It has been a vibrant chapter throughout the years with a ‘Meet the Artists’ opening, a successful closing shows including our (non-juried) exhibit “Hue-MAN-IZE” at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse, in the prestigious home of Ellsworth Kelly’s “The Boston Panels,” to The Gallery at Atlantic Wharf, Seaport’ S|HE’ in Höweler + Yoon Architecture designed the Gallery+building floor plan, using a concept that centers on a highly visible “cloud” ceiling and monumental stairs. These two architectural elements act as iconic markers for Gallery Space. This led to Boston Magazine’s Best of Boston 2022 voted ‘Best Art Gallery’ exhibit Lust After juried by Founder and Director Marie Craig, which includes a show catalog along with Canvas Fine Art, Boston’ Floating Dreams’ show to Marblehead Arts Association’ Mirror Image’ and a Spring Soiree at District Hall, Boston. It’s a new year filled with hope, and with it comes two recent exhibitions, workshops, classes, social events that will bring you even more reasons to celebrate this time next year. Let Art continue to shine in our lives. Art is one of the fundamental ways human beings express their perceptions and create inspiration. Humanity has never had so many resources and knowledge, but we can do nothing without hope. Thank you for all your support, thought-provoking, and beautiful works as we live in dynamic, progressive, and constant change, but life is nothing if we are not experiencing it. With that said, our Chapter continues to grow with a healthy roster: www.nawama.org/calendar.

Our members are on fire too. Please check out our revamped website to see members’ images to their directed pages for significant updates. We are on this creative journey together, so stay tuned for more sail, float, and enchantment in our personal and Artistic endeavors.

Thank you again, Kim, for being our second chapter president colleague and for continuing to strengthen our Chapter’s creative family. We ‘universal communicators’ are documenting, creating, and possibly repeating chapters of human history. Let’s ‘Float’ together in 2022 in ease and love.

-Jennifer Jean Okumura, President, NAWA MA Chapter
